But did you know that the deck of cards contains 52 cards that represent 52 weeks in a year?
That's not all; cards hide even more interesting facts. Namely, four different signs represent four different seasons, and colors red and black represent night and day. Also, 12 cards with a picture represent 12 months of the year. When you add all the cards in the deck number 364 is obtained, and when a joker is added, we get to number 365, which is the number of days in a year.
It is believed that cards originate from ancient China, but there are several theories about the exact time in which they originated. Card games came to Europe from Islamic countries, most probably around 1360. At that time, a sword, a stick, a coin and a cup were used as signs.
These cards are still used today in Spain, Morocco, South America and some parts of Italy and France. In Switzerland, in German-speaking areas, rose, acorn, shield and bell are used, and in some parts of Central Europe, leaf, acorn, heart, and bell are used.

On December 28, the Cards day is celebrated in the United States. Though it is not known why, or even when this holiday exactly started being celebrated. It is a custom to send interesting cards and play different games in the family circle or among friends on that day.
